Artist description
A WOMAN, A GUITAR AND A GREAT VOICE
She was twelve or thirteen when the German rockband GURU GURU stayed at her parents huge old farm house to rehearse their new album.
Quite inspired by their creative work and crazy music, she soon started playing on her fathers' old guitar. She learned a few basic chords and pretty soon she realized that she wanted to learn more to have a tool to convey her own groove and songs.
Always in search of her own unique expression in music she sang at the age of seventeen in a rockband, moved further on to a fusion band and then sang with a jazz trio for a while.
Even though at the age of twenty she meet EDO ZANKI and worked on a couple of songs with him, she felt it wasn't HER time yet.
She started writing her own songs and autodidactively taught herself more about guitar. In 1989 when rocksinger JULE NEIGEL and her band had their breakthrough, they booked Christina as a backup singer and she went on three tours with them. SABINE VAN BAAREN was the other girl singer.
Sabine and MARIO ARGANDONA founded the VOCALEROS in 1993; an outstanding vocal quintet which Christina worked with for six years. They released two albums with four of her songs on them. Her voice gained even more color and depth through working with the Vocaleros and their unusual arrangements.
In December 1998 she was invited to go on a Tour through Germany with FURY IN THE SLAUGHTERHOUSE. She produced a CD with five songs and brought it on the tour. In September 1999 she supported LONG JOHN BALDRY on his tour through Germany.
In November 1999 she released her debut "Little Luxuries" with Hypertension/Edel contraire records. This album points out her great talent as a singer/songwriter and guitarist which is rarely found on the German music scene. Her concerts are filled with improvised moments, and an amazing dynamic and warmth that touches peoples hearts. Stories about hopes, the flow in life, freedom within, the understanding of our feelings and the ups and downs in becoming a person who loves themselves and the things they do. Her guitar and voice fill the room and make it a beautiful heartwarming performance. Close your eyes and get inspired by lux soulfood.
In December 1999 she supported PAUL YOUNG on his tour with great success.
In June 2000 she supported STATUS QUO.

Artist History
CHRISTINA LUX
“She is a wonderful singer. One of your best”. (Jon Lord)
The singer/songwriter and guitarist Christina Lux is a phenomenon. Since the mid-eighties she has become one of the most wanted backup singers in Germany. She has been on tour with the Jule Neigel Band (1989) and was a special guest on the Fury in the slaughterhouse tour (1998). Stars such as Grace Jones, Oleta Adams, Gabrielle and Nina Hagen had her sing backing vocals on prime-time TV shows in Germany. She sang on studio albums for Mick Karn (ex Japan) and Jon Lord (Deep Purple). Her unique voice can even be found on dance acts (RMB Mission Horizon , 2001).
But Christina Lux also has a career of her own. Since the releases of her first two albums ( in 1998 She is Me and in 1999 Little Luxuries ) she has performed countless club concerts. Some of these were as a soloist, others as a member of a trio, supported by bassist Marius Goldhammer ( Marla Glen..) and the one-man-percussion-orchestra Roland Peil (Die Phantastischen 4..). She was the opening act for Paul Young in 1999 and Tuck+Patti in 2001. The music magazine GITARRE & BASS (July 2001) says, “ What sets her apart from others is her warm and deeply touching voice, supported by her finely tuned feeling for spontaneity and free-flowing improvisation combined with her jazzy, grooving rhythm guitar...truly great!”
While the music industry in Germany sometimes fails to recognize the gold in their own back yard, she is regarded as a brilliant musician by critics both at home and in other countries. Perhaps it is because of the range of her repertoire: songs that are written in authentic American English, sung with her dark magic velvety voice, blending acoustic soul and funky folk with jazzy improvised highlights. According to the music magazine SOUNDCHECK, she holds her own in a comparison with Rickie Lee Jones or Shawn Calvin.
Christina Lux is an exceptional live artist. Her latest album
Pure Love, gives the best feel yet for the spontaneity of her live performances. Since, with the exception of two tracks, it was recorded live, we’re able to experience the pure magic of one of her concerts...pure pleasure!

Press Reviews
Mostly accompanied by only her acoustic guitar she sings masterful ballads somewhere between Rickie Lee Jones and Shawn Colvin. Sensuous music to immerse yourself in and a lesson for all pop songwriters
Soundcheck 2001
When she sings her ballads of belief, love and hope as well as of doubt and desire, Christina Lux is surrounded by a captivating aura. Lux interprets her music, which is somewhere between folk and jazz, likeably yet supremely and radiates much warmth and sensuousness.

...Pat Kirtley says about Christinas Lux that she shows you don’t need sensational licks to make vivid and emotional music. This time she enterered the stage at a perfect time and the audience seemed to have waited for her only: a convincing voice, hot songs, unusual guitar style with folk elements yet groovy and funky; a Joan Baez 2000 who enchanted the audience for an hour....

Feedback 12/1999
...a great voice. Her soft ballads sung with a sensual dark voice are classically embedded in grooving, tasteful arrangements. Lots of power in her voice, lyrics which say a great deal. Her power reminds one a little bit of the singer from Tuck&Patti, whereas Christina definetely has got her own style.
Velvety! Guitar 1/2000
