Artist History
Quynade was established in December 2000 aiming to specialize in medieval music. Its members, coming from different backgrounds, classical, early & ethnic music, blend together their concepts of sound and musicality, in order to create an ARS NOVA
They take their name after...
Quynade,
an exquisite medieval dessert made up of quince, rose petals, almonds and spices.
Quynade,
the ensemble for medieval music, wishes to capture some of this special flavor in its musical renditions.
Among the original ingredients used for this purpose, there are reproductions of the instruments of the time, and a historical system of tuning. Pythagorean intonation, with its pure fifths and very big thirds, gives the music a special taste indeed: dissonant triads season the music thanks to the wide thirds; (tuned in equal temperament they would just sound as simple major chords).
