    Artist description
The world is a vast resource of creativity, a bottomless well of inspiration. Planeswalker seeks to embody the spirit of the earth and its cultures while at the same time playing herald of what's to come. Or, Planeswalker is a combination of electronica and world music. At first it was primarily trance, and is now going in a multitude of directions.

    Artist History
Planeswalker got started in early 2001 when Todd One (that's me) first heard a trance remix of an Ikarus song. While familiar with what the genre was, I'd never been terribly into the music. But upon hearing that Ikarus remix, I saw the possibilities for blending trance with world music. I had heard other artists doing it with trip-hop, rock, and world fusion, but I didn't find too many blending world music with trance. So the proverbial light bulb blinked to life over my head, complete with me saying out loud, "I can do that!" So I did. My first experiment was the song "Ice Spirit" and two versions later, it's still one of my favourite tracks. But I needed more direction, so I began pouring over the trance charts at MP3.com. I didn't like what I heard. Trance wasn't jumping out at me as something very musical, just a derivative Acid Pro beat and some loops. Suddenly, Planeswalker had a purpose. I became determined to show that techno could have great beats, creative sampling, and showcase its ability to draw from other musical styles, all the while being artistically sound and musical. I wanted to show that techno is not just a beat to dance to, but can be something you can put on your home stereo, sit down, listen to and enjoy for the music alone. With "The Magic Lantern Show," I think I've done just that. The maxi-EP consists of seven songs plus two alternate versions, and I think is a testament to just how powerful techno can be. New songs will be available for download periodically, so check back often. The maxi-EP, "The Magic Lantern Show" is now available!
