Artist History
Wisconsin-based Myopic Son entered the music scene in February of 2000 when bassist Jeff Ritter, guitarist Kevin Kosterman, and drummer Spencer Smith were introduced to Nik Alexander. After enlisting Nik as vocalist, the band recorded their debut EP, Prodigal, in June of 2000. Michael Hopkins, of The Scene magazine described Prodigal as, “One of the best albums that I’ve heard in a long time” and, “With insightful lyrics that grapple with the basic struggles of human nature, the songs reach into your chest and grab your heart, not to tear it out for death, but to wake it up for life.” Myopic Son have created a musical style full of forceful rhythm patterns and intensity-fueled melodies. With the combination of Kosterman’s powerful guitar riffs and Alexander’s deep range of vocal tones, Myopic Son’s melodic active rock style is hard-driving, while being easy on the ear. The core of the rhythm section is balanced between the blend Smith and Ritter. The band prides themselves on their intense stage show and their genuine love for the music they create and perform.
Myopic Son have played shows throughout the Midwest and shared the stage with such National Acts as Jackyl, Full Devil Jacket, Kittie, Quiet Riot, Hair of the Dog, American Head Charge, Megadeth, Caroline’s Spine, Ill Nino, No One, and Chimaira. In addition, on December 23, 2001, Myopic Son was named #1 on a top ten listing of Wisconsin bands by WAPL (Rolling Stone’s Radio Station of the Year). They have also received weekly airplay on Wisconsin rock stations WZOR (Green Bay), WJJO (Madison), WLUM (Milwaukee), WWWX (Appleton), and WAPL (Appleton). |

Press Reviews
"Myopic Son is a heavy, riff based quartet that shows diversity and simplicity in their assault on your senses. Powerful drums, thick, crunchy guitars and blues-y vocals drive their metallic engine." February 2001 Maximum Ink Magazine
"Emotional, driving, intense, the four members of Myopic Son are proving that their true heart lies in their music and their live performance... A band not to be missed. A band to be brought out into the light." Dave Jackson, the-eko.com
"Right from the initial seconds of the opening track... the music stampedes out of the gates, smacking you between the eyes with headbanging guitar riffs. This Wisconsin-based band stands as a bright shining light of clarity in the dimly lit corridors of metal rock."
