Artist History
SUMMER 1997:
The band was founded under the name Infernal Dream.
The line-up then consisted of Koen Romeijn on
vocals and guitar, Mike Ferguson on guitar and
Thomas Kalksma on drums.
AUGUST 1998:
Otto Schimmelpenninck joins the band on bass-guitar.
OCTOBER 1998:
The bandname is changed into Detonation and they
enter the studio for the first time to record 2
songs ("Life In Hell" & "Slaying The Serpent")
for the Crushed Skull compilation CD. A month
later the band does their first gig with Death
Metal band Engorge.
JANUARY 1999:
The Crushed Skull CD is released through Skull
Crusher records. In the April issue of Dutch leading
Metal magazine Aardschok the band is said to be
the best band on the CD. In the month following
the release several gigs are played.
OCTOBER 1999:
The band enters the studio for the second time.
This time to record their first official release,
a Mini CD entitled "Lost Euphoria". It contains 4
songs; "Failure To Commit", "Euphoric Loss",
"Reflection Of A Torn Spirit" and "Helplessness".
JANUARY 2000:
"Lost Euphoria" is released through Skull Crusher
Records. It is launched by means of a very
successful gig in Utrecht. After the release
several gigs are played throughout Holland. In
October 2000 and the following months the band
is offered the chance to play several shows as
support-act of well-known Dutch Metal band
ORPHANAGE.
MARCH 2001:
The studio is entered again to record 3 new songs
to be released as a promo CD meant primarily for
labels and venues. With the promo CD the band hopes
to catch the interest of a label to release their
first full-length album.
OCTOBER 2001:
No constructive response has been received on the
promo so the band decides to record another 5 new
songs in their rehearsal room, to be spread among
labels. The wait is on again for a label to be
interested in releasing the band's debut full-length
album in 2002.
AUGUST 2002:
The band records their debut album "An Epic Defiance",
which they will release themselves and with the album
in hand will try to find a label interested in
releasing it on a large scale. Recordings take
place at Excess studios in Rotterdam, one of the
best studios for Metal in Holland. Artwork will be
provided by Niklas Sundin of Dark Tranquillity.
The album is planned to be released in October
2002. |
