Artist History
Native Texan Bobby Herring has been rapping since he was twelve years of age, starting out as a negative gangsta rap artist. In 1994, Bobby acknowledged Christ as Lord, and shortly after launched his own small business. Being gifted in the area of leadership and organization, it flourished. As a successful business man, Bobby believes in the biblical principle of serving and has always shared his resources with others. In '99, he was able to upstart his second company, Much Luvv Records, a hiphop recording label producing solely Christian entertainment.
At the beginning of his rap ministry, Tre9 found himself becoming rather angry with the music world. He stood against the lyrics of most non-Christian rappers of that time. In protest, he recorded "Thy Kingdom Come" featuring four songs that shoot down the lies of secular artists and affirm the truth of the new life. He then began touring, promoting his new creation. In return for his submissiveness, the Lord allowed him to perform in lofty places. He arranged concerts in Atlanta at Clarke University and at various bookstore chains throughout Tennessee, Kansas, Missouri and Louisiana.
In 2000, Tre9 unleashed his first full length CD entitled "Thy Will Be Done," a fitting sequel to his first 4-song release. Aside from his new project, he formed Exousia Productions to aid other Christian rap groups needing studio help. That same year he also founded the youth center 360 Degrees, and he remains director of the facility today. Tre has promoted artists in the Houston area like Amani, Pettidee, Lil' Raskull, Southern Gospeltality, KJ-52, L.G. Wise, Prime Minister and more.
Presently, Tre stands focussed on his newest album, Marooned. The album is his most self-reflective project to date, and seperates itself from past efforts. It will be releasing this summer and is the newest chapter in Tre's walk. In short, Tre9 is the positive hiphop alternative preachers and parents constantly complain does not exist. And his vow to exclaim the love of God through music, is felt by those who survey, both adults and youth alike.

SIDE NOTE:
Bobby goes by Tre9 when performing, or just "Tre" to the friends around him. While hanging out as a youth, he heard a radio deejay call out, "It's the nine-tre!," which implied that it was the beginning of the year, 1993. Reversed, it became the perfect stage name for Bobby: Tre9. The name hit home with Bobby because the "Tre" reminded him of the three part trinity, while the nine refers to the impact of a nine millimeter gun. In Tre's words, "Through my music I am firing the will of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, at all who will hear." |
