Artist History
After the breakup of Systemic (the seminal NC electronic/alternative outfit which he founded in 1995), Adrien McCarthy moved home to New York and began the two year process of building his home studio 8d8. With 1999's debut cd "everyone i love is gone" achieving critical success, McCarthy hit the road with his new band lightfromadeadstar and quickly began turning heads with his original vocal style and emotional music. The band was featured as one of the next decades "Top 100 to Watch" in Raygun Magazine. After completing the film score for "the Love Song of Henry Milk" and winning "Best Original Score" at this years First Run Film Festival in New York, Adrien has returned home to begin work on the second lightfromadeadstar cd (due out in late spring 2002).ˇh |

Press Reviews
May 1999 Raygun : "...like dreamy blue food dye mixing with water, each song slowly builds into a wall of colorful sound. The bass brings to mind the best Cure albums while the electronics and samples give a hint of nine inch nails mastermind Trent Reznor, but there is something completely new here. While Reznor screams his way into you, McCarthy's calming, almost soothing voice draws you in before his wicked instrumentation throws you back out. An amazing debut."ˇ¸ |
