Artist History
Chyp Davis is an accomplished singer, songwriter, producer, musician, composer, and performer whose love for music has inspired and developed him into the artist he is today. A current Washingtonian he has traveled the world doing music.
Of his many accomplishments he is mostly recognized as a drummer and has performed with national acts such as the Orioles, Drifters, Delphonics, Platters, Coasters, Marvalettes, Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes, Sarah Dash, Ali Woodson, and Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame the Flamingo’s to name a few. He has appeared in performances with the Manhattans, AWB, Jeffrey Osbourne, Ray Chew & the Crew, Jefferson Starship, Three Dog Night and many other world renowned artist. He also served as musical director for both Sara Dash and Harold Melvin & the Bluenotes and produced LW Blindsight’s CD.
His singing career started doing background vocals while drumming and it wasn’t until he ventured out as a solo artist that his sultry voice had him opening for Cameo and Kool & the Gang in Richmond, Virginia. This eventually led to him singing with Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame the Flamingo’s. Although he has 70 original compositions in his catalog, he teamed with Kevin Campbell on a songwriting venture to produce his debut album.
A recipient of the Blues Alley Appreciation Award, Chyp’s greatest asset is his versatility and his love for music.
