Artist description
Southern Gun Culture is two guys, a girl and a kick ass heavy duty southern stoner rock band from Austin, TX. Combining heavy tube guitar, fat bass lines, driving beats and a three-pronged vocal attack, this relatively new band is striving to put Texas back on the rock n roll map. Their sound is innovative and retro, calling to mind early Black Sabbath, Clutch and southern rock with almost Beatles-like vocal harmonies. With a raw sound and an explosive stage presence, SGC is taking rock back to its roots and providing a fresh alternative to the current trends.

Artist History
Although formed in September of 2000, drummer Trent Parker and bassist Amber Dickerson had already been playing in numerous bands in the Austin area for three years. In such prog metal groups as Famous Christians and Hrossa they formed a tight-knit rhythm session but longed to pursue a more straight forward, southern rock-influenced groove. Trent cut his musical teeth on Black Sabbath and Fu Manchu, packing his drums and leaving his native Lubbock for the Austin scene. Amber started out playing acoustic guitar and singing folk songs before discovering rock music via Stone Temple Pilots and such heavyweights as COC and the Atomic Bitchwax. As a result she switched to bass and made the move from Houston. Danny started off in the punk/noise core scene of Corpus Christi, playing in Mad Taxi and briefly in Front Lawn Revolution. As his musical tastes switched to Black Sabbath, Rage Against the Machine, Clutch and Nirvana, the scene dried up and he left for Austin a few years later |
