Artist History
WE ARE NOW KNOWN AS:
THE DYING THEORY
here is our past history:
Shedten was born in the summer of 1993 (formerly known as Sovereign) we started out sounding like early groove-thrash metal.
Finally in 1996-97 we got our sound just right HARD CORE. Through a few style and member changes, God had our band locked into a style with slight variances of everything. Compare to Korn, Fear Factory, and Slipknot, but of course with Christ as the Core.
As of February 1999, our current line up includes: Mike Boyce - vocals (26) Aaron Hansen- guitar (18) Brad Spinks- bass guitar (20) Byron Spinks- drums (25)
Our accomplishments include a variety of performances with: P.O.D. (ATLANTIC RECORDS),
Whitman's Mold (DTS Records)
Sackcloth Fashion (Syntax Records) MORTIFICATION (ROWE PRODUCTIONS)
Steve Rowe, bass player and lead vocalist, featured us on a world wide distributed Compilation CD called:
MASSIVE FREQUENCY OVERLOAD
U.S. hard compilation.
June 3 rd and 4th, we recorded our first CD at Hole of the Pigeon studios here in Jacksonville Fl., it is now available.

Press Reviews
Review from Intense Radio-April 27, 2001
"Got hardcore? If you have this disc you do! Shedten (from Jacksonville, FL) started off as a thrash/death metal band called Sovereign. I saw them live in the mid 90's and one of my old bands even played a gig with them. They've definitely perfected their sound and moved on to an even heavier groove oriented hardcore sound. For those of you looking for some kind of comparison for reference, about the only thing I could put this up against, that is this well done, is Living Sacrifice's "new" sound from Reborn on. The quality of this recording is excellent. I'd love to hear someone like Travis Wyrick or another producer of hard music take this band and do a full-scale wall to wall production. The 8 songs featured here kick major butt from start to finish. Mike Boyce has the perfect hardcore voice and it comes off well live too. I've always thought Byron Spinks drumming was as intimidating as meeting him in a dark alley (you'd have to see Byron to get this)...hehehe. The bass frequencies are very solid and this is something you can turn up and break windows and stuff. The riffs dig deep and invoke headbanging at random intervals. I think as far as hardcore goes, SHEDTEN is the best kept secret in the unsigned realm. You need to get this CD before it becomes a collectors item. I see this band getting signed and doing some big things in the future. You can contact them at Shedten@yahoo.com so do it now!" -- Scott Moore
