Artist History
The Promotional Use biography according to Sharat:
The story so far... I bought my first drum kit sometime around March 2000. I'd often jam out with some friends of mine with discouraging results. Spending all my free time learning to play, it became apparent that I wanted to be involved with people as passionate about music as I am. Around this time I met bassist Jason Hale. I saw him as opinionated and understanding, we were quick to become friends. Talent-wise we were practically on the same level but it was clear he had some serious potential. The first step had been taken and now left us with the frustrating task of searching for a guitarist (or two). Thorough online searching led us to guitar players Chris Tate and Anthony Lykos of the punk band Minor Adjustment in need of a drummer and bassist. The four of us jammed a few times and decided we could really get a band going. Minor Adjustment died and in August of 2000 No Cause For Alarm was born. The name seemed fine but with too many other bands with similar names we found it in the band's best interest to change it. Promotional Use was now complete, Chris-Vocals/Guitar, Anthony-Guitar, Jason-Bass, and me (Sharat)-Drums. After playing a few parties and a show, it was decided Anthony wasn't working out. Anthony's removal made being in a band much easier and helped us work out differences, we now get along most of the time. As we became more involved with the band, we started going towards an undesired melodic pop-punk musical direction. Pop music got old fast, (there's nothing wrong with it, just not what we wanted) and the realization of how we were headed as a band led us to take on a different approach. We now for the most part play fast, emo-influenced, occasionally hard-core, progressive punk rock with emotional lyrics. We have fun at what we do, making music, playing shows and being creative. We recently recorded a five song EP titled "Only." We recorded the EP ourselves with interesting results, not very impressive quality yet still gives a good idea of our sound. We're looking to record a full-length to be released sometime around November 2001. |
