Artist History
This is the true story of John Garrett Bultman. I was born in Augusta, Ga with a record breaking chest, the biggest in Augusta. And weighed in at 11 lbs. 10 ounces. I had yellow jaundice, and when I came out and the nurse set me on the table I peed all over her and the ceiling I figured I better get them first, if they were about to do a little cuttin' on my dingus. We moved to Lilburn, Ga and I got hit by a car cruising at 50 m.p.h. on highway 29. I couldn't make through all 4 lanes. And for some reason I think I may have closed my eyes. I broke a lot of bones and was out for 3 weeks, I wasn't supposed to be alive, is anyone? A year later we moved to East Tennessee, Greeneville, about 30 min. east of Gatlinburg. I was 6 and I stayed there till I was 14. The cows would keep me awake at night mating and such down at Holly Creek. In 6th grade this gay art teacher I had would rub the kids shoulders. I quit art and I started skateboarding at 12 and am still doing it to this day... I wish I could quit. My parents then moved to Gulfport, Ms. Where I finished jr. high where I would get punched for some strange reason, I moved on to high school. I got interested in music and at 17 I started playing my mom's classical guitar. So I did. I moved to Atlanta and North Carolina over a couple of summers to live on my own. I started school at the University of Southern Mississippi and for 3 years was a music major, I got to the point where I hated every class I was in, everything about what I was doing I was no longer interested in so I changed my major to Geology and love it very much. I met summer, my wife, about 3 years ago. My band was playing a show in Jackson with her band and we got lost in the woods together afterward. We ended up talking all night long. It was the kind of talk and companionship that takes everything that you had had built up on your shoulders your entire life off. She just fit. Ten months after we met we got married and have been happy since then. She is my best friend. As far as bands go, I first was in a band called "swivel rocker". It was a high school time band. When I came to college, Brian Whitfield and I met and started a band then named "Tango Morilla" Local sketchy, out of tune, a whole lot of feeling. Later Adam Clay joined and we became just Morilla. We started playing more and more out and about. Britt Schrock joined and Brian left to pursue other things. We made 2 cd's and have a link to us on Superchunk's website. Morilla though would soon be over. I will leave it at that. After Morilla Jonathan, Rani, Britt, and I started this band called " The Boxer Rebellion". This would soon be over also. Everyone in the band could sing and did. A while after Morilla reformed with Jonathan McLeran on guitar also. Adam is leaving to pursue more schooling in Arkansas and Morilla will finally rest. Patmos, Is actually something that I started about 3 years ago. I used to just record stuff on my hand recorder sort of as a musical diary. These recordings are songs that were on that diary, and some that were written just prior to recording. They maintain a very personal level that I believe you lose sometimes when in a rock band. Just a boy and his guitar. PATMOS is currently working on songs with Jonathan McLeran.
