Artist description
My band, The Front Porch Strings, is also hard to pin down! We play old-time, Celtic, I play jazz on the autoharp and our fiddler loves the Scottish sound. I use my lever harp in weddings and other venues that call for it . |
 |
Music Style
Eclectic- with the autoharp I tend to lean to melodic pieces. Irish/Scottish jigs, hornpipes and reels go well. |
 |
Musical Influences
gospel in small country churches; training in piano/organ; musically talented family; a musical tour of Ireland with the band really got me going on that kind of music. |
 |
Artist History
We have been together for 11 years. four women and one man; fiddle, guitar, hammer dulcimer, lap dulcimer, autoharp with harp, bodhran, catspaws, bowed psaltery, recorder and tongue drum, occasionally. |
 |
Group Members
Autoharp Clearinghouse, Autoharp Quarterly, Charlotte Observer, Statesville Record, Iredell Citizen, Mecklenburg Gazette and others I can't think of. ( Marc, these are papers that my CD has been in.) If we send you the band's CD I'll fill you in on that later |
