Press Reviews
Florida. Land of Metal. What about Christian Extreme Metal? I know of Yeti and Soul of the Savior. What about Death Requisite? Do you know Death Requisite? We at BC had the pleasure of catching up with this band. Here is Dave for the Interview!
Black Cauldron: Dave, I know very little of your band, but I would like to be informed! Tell us about the members of your band and what they do in the band
Dave: In order of appearance; Dave (DJ)-Lead Guitar, Insurance Agent, father of 2 Trevor -Rhythm guitar, High School student, Lawn Maintenance Marcus -Vocals, Jr College Student, CSR Josh -Drums, High School Student, Lawn Maintenance Jon. -Bass, Community College Student, Construction DenniStar -Vocals, College Student, Waiter
Black Cauldron: What motivated you to start this band?
Dave: I was surrounded by music through-out my childhood, its a passion now. I have been playing and performing since I was 4 yrs old, and this was the best way for me to serve God, while entertaining.
Black Cauldron: I understand that you were called "Death Requiem" before. Why the name change? What does the name "Death Requisite" mean to you?
Dave: Death Requiem was borrowed from Mortification's "scrolls of the megaloth", and the names definition was too broad. Death Requisite is much more direct and focused. The secondary definition for "death" is eternal destruction, and a "requisite" is a requirement due to a particular circumstance. All humans are born into a circumstance called sin. The only payment for sin is death. Jesus Christ paid this price for me, and all who accept Him.
Black Cauldron: Do you have any recordings out? Tell us about em.
Dave: We have a 23min 3 song EP currently available entitled "Living Sanctuary" We have an album in progress, the EP is just a hold over for anxious friends and fans; Different songs though. One song of our newer style will be appearing on a compilation from Dysmorphic Records called "Screams of Abbadon II"
Black Cauldron: What bands influence DR? what music do you guys listen to?
Dave: We listen to very nearly all types of music from Bach to ZAO. No Rap or Country though, can't digest it. As members our common interest is metal because of the musicality, the technicality, and the difficulty in performance. We are always striving to improve ourselves, our music, and the scene we are in.
Black Cauldron: How is the death metal scene in your area? Would you refer to your music as Death Metal?
Dave: In our city, we are the scene. Surrounding areas are pretty good though, we are friends with other better known metal groups like Yeti, Under Oath and Soul Of The Savior, so we get to see them and perform with them. As for our style, we mix many forms of metal to obtain our sound. The most notable styles are Death and Black metal. We actually refer to ourselves as "Life Metal". A humorous response to those who tease us for being a christian heavy metal group.
Black Cauldron: What are your lyrics about?
Dave: Lyrically we are a praise and worship group. With occasional convictions and warnings included. Usually poetic.
Black Cauldron: I understand that you guys are going to be on a compilation. How did you get the hook up?
Dave: We are friendly with the guys from Soul of The Savior, they found us online, and told us about the compilation and who to talk to. That is of course the Screams of Abbadon II. It actually happened pretty fast, it's a real blessing.
Black Cauldron: Are you guys planning on recording a CD ever?
Dave: We are going back to the studio to finish our first album next month, I have been doing some of the mixing and mastering myself, which has helped to reduce studio time. I expect it will be available in Sept.
Black Cauldron: What is in store for your future? What do you want to see happen in the scene?
Dave:We have had a boost in demand for shows, hopefully that will hold up. We are getting new merch, pre-arranged studio time and cost for album. We are planning on sending a demo of our indie album to record labels, and there is some plans for music festivals. So there is definitely a mission in progress. I think all of us would like to see some evidence of our effect on others. As christians we don't we cant "save" everybody, but its good to have a positive impact. Personally I would like to see some more social blending.
Black Cauldron: Is there satanism in your area? what do you think of this practice?
Dave: There is satanism here. Its growing in popularity, and I think that's because it is a very selfish lifestyle. To deny God's influence on your life gives you free reign over moral behavior, whether or not you're involved in satanism. What makes it different is that some believe they will receive favor from Satan for rebelling against God. What seems interestingly odd to me, is that they believe that (Satan) the one who teaches them to mistreat life and others, will not mistreat them at any time. In the end though, God's laws to life, will determine their fate. As an enlightened individual, I oppose the practice, as a christian I still have a Godly love for those partake of it
Black Cauldron: Any further comments?
Dave: Sure, I would just like to encourage people that there is still purity in this world, but it is not of this world, and it comes in all forms, and it is our honor and pleasure to bring it in the form of metal. Thanks God bless. |
