No, we are not the Roots or Pharcyde. Much love to them both, but we'd crush them in a battle (i'm serious, much love).
    Artist History
The Urban Organic Project was founded by former members of the immensely popular regional band, The Renaissance, joining with other instrumentalists, friends and promoters. It's membership truly reflects the urban world ranging from Philadelphia, New York, DC, Pittsburgh, Lehigh Valley, Pensacola Florida, Kinshasa Zaira, and Jakarta Indonesia. Seeking to sonically capture urban life, they played nearly every day for about four months straight at their LifeStar Battlestation studio on N. 10th St. in Indiana. Cats had to work for money, so the changing of the guard took place regularly, but be it from two people to the full ten contributors, the Urban Organic kept it rocking from mid morning to late night technically morning daily. Experienced ARTISTS (not just musicians) they composed 28 "keepers" and recorded the first ten of them on a self-release called "The Basement Sessions." The track "Cocoa" was picked up by Vinylators in Belgium (yes, Belgium) to appear on the OkayPlayer.Compilation (loosely affiliated with the OkayPlayer family i.e. the roots, etc.). The album was heavily marketed to European companies, and although receiving critical acclaim in magazines from Sweeden to the Netherlands, was not picked up by companies for wholesale distribution. The UOP (pronounced ooh-wap) then teamed up with BRL Records and the Orphanage crew in Pittsburgh to record a two song single at Audiomation Studios in Pittsburgh. "2000 AD" and "Stylz Out the Basement" were the chosen tracks, and on Christmas Eve in 2000, the band drove summoned it's parts from all over the eastern seaboard to spend the holidays together under the christmas lights of the A-room, and recorded their musical masterpiece. Since that time, the band dispersed to various cities through the east and got together to tour on weekends, and promote their music. The UOP Click is now still a tight musical fam working on individual projects. You'll see K-Mos' single, "Diondega 412" on shelves soon, and D.Best and Biz Phat are in a band called Going Blind. B.Hannon is holding down the NYC drum community, Jeff Dancy live and well in DC and Garcia Vega and Peaches rocking Philly poetics and vocal stylings regularly.
