    Artist History
Broken Up arose out of the ashes of the Santa Clara University band Lost Within. Guitarists Ryan Lindow and Josh Dunlap, along with drummer Adam McClure, linked up with Josh's friend AZNR in the summer of 2000. After an extremely difficult process of choosing a name, the band agreed to call themselves "Aversion." Unfortunately, the band soon learned that this name was taken by a German metal band (seriously), and restarted the difficult process of choosing another name. "Aversion Therapist" was scratched because of its heavy metal connotation, but the band finally agreed on the name "Jack's Wasted Life." Unfortunately (again), the band only played one show before finding out that this name was also taken. Thoroughly fed up with the process of finding a suitable name, the band realized that if they didn't pick something soon they'd simply be broken up. The name Broken Up stuck, and the band finally got back to playing shows. After a few local performances, the band recorded their 5-song "Does It Really Matter?" EP. In the fall of 2001, drummer Adam McClure left the band to move to Santa Barbara, and lead guitarist Ryan Lindow moved back to drums to temporarily fill the void (Ryan had previously played drums in the Sacramento band Final Lap) The next year, the music industry finally recognized the overwhelming musical genius of Broken Up, and signed them to a multi-million dollar record contract. Broken Up sold 3 billion records, swept the Grammys, and became all-around rock star assholes. After easily achieving world domination, they were overwhelmed by a sense of normlessness (Durkheim's "anomie," if you will) and felt that breaking up would be the only way to ensure that their immense power would not be abused by their opponents. At least, I think that's how it happened...
    Group Members
Josh Dunlap (guitar), Ryan Lindow (guitar), Adam McClure (drums), AZNR (bass & vox). Recently, Ryan Lindow was filling in on drums (isn't he amazing folks!?!) and Josh Dunlap was handling all guitar parts. AZNR was the same old dildo. Now, nobody plays anything.
