Artist description
Friends since high school, the band started out as a hobby, but eventually
grew into a serious collaboration. The three members trace their musical
roots from bands of the 60's, such as Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan and the Beatles,
to contemporary bands like Phish and Radio Head. Influences from folk to
alternative rock gave their material an original, yet familiar feel. The
band's styles meshed into a sound they believed in. Blending acoustic and
electric guitar throughout their set list the band created a varying level
of intensity and mood. "We wrote many of our songs on acoustic guitar,"
Brian Says. "But when we sat down and worked our parts out, a lot of them
sounded more natural on electric."
The band writes, produces, engineers, and records in their own home studio
which allows them freedom and creativity without pressures of time and money
influencing any of their projects. Over the years the band accumulated
enough equipment to complete an album. According to Ryan Pennington, "Its
nice to have the freedom to improvise when we play, because our music stays
interesting." This freedom carried over to the recording process as the
band created the sound and feel of the album entirely themselves. "We
wanted a more raw upfront sound you get from a live performance." said
drummer and album's sound engineer Cameron Probe.

Artist History
The Mudlers have been making music together for the past nine years under
various incarnations but in 1999 decided to turn their informal jams into a
music group. After playing some of their lighter songs in coffee house
settings in the Ventura area, the band produced and recorded their
self-titled CD "The Mudlers" and set off to play different venues. |
