    Musical Influences
EVERY THING HAS ITS PART IN INFLUENCING OUR MUSIC.
    Artist History
Stretcher was formed in early 1997 when four long-time friends from San Diego came together because of their love and interest for music. They all have an intense vision to write, record, and perform their own aggresive hard-hitting music that people could relate to. Stretcher's influences range from A TO Z. Stretcher has had the pleasure of sharring the stage with such acts as Machine Head, Nepalm Death, SprungMonkey, M.O.D., Skin Lab, Unritten law, Morbid Angel, R.K.L., Cannibal Corpse, The Murder Dolls, and the Kottonmouth Kings to name a few, As well as playing the New Jersey, San Antonio, Los Angeles and Milwaukee Metalfests. Stretcher was the 2003 Budwieser & ROCK 105.3FM battle of bands winner, and was rewarded the opening slot with P.O.D. at the bud bowl super bowl pre party in San Diego. Stretcher takes the opportunity to hit the road whenever possible, and aspires to be a full-time touring band in the near future. They are constanly striving and evolving to create their own sound. -In 1998 Stretcher released their first self-financed and self-produced full length CD Everyone Loves A Tragedy recorded @ DML Studios in Escondido,CA. -In 2000 Stretcher released their second D.I.Y. full length CD titled Annomundi produced by Stretcher and Eddie Garcia of Pissing Razors. Annomundi was recorded @ Signature Sound in San Diego, CA. then mixed in New York city with Herb Dishman. "All 12 tracks were recorded in four days". -In 2002 Stretcher recorded a 3 song self titled EP. @ Pineapple Recorders in S.D. with Scott Sayler & Eddie Garcia. One track of this EP. was recorded for a Fox Racing motor cross video. -Stercther has currently just recorded & mixed the heart of bombs demo EP. in El Paso, Texas with Eddie Garcia and Herb Dishman.

Music Review from BERZERKER Magazine STRETCHER "everyone loves a tragedy" It's time to check out the Thrash-O-Meter! Well, it looks like Stretcher has scored themselves a perfect rating of 10! I get lost when I listened to this CD, but it's a good lost because I was headbanging like a madman and I forgot my surroundings. I guess you can say that I needed a stretcher after listening to STRETCHER (that was bad)! Starting with track 1, "Machination", Stretcher attacks you with their sick musicianship. This WHOLE CD keeps your attention with crunchy guitar riffs, fast drumming, and superb growling/screaming vocals. These guys hail from San Diego and deliver a sound that is brutal as fuck! I would classify Stretcher's sound as Speed Metal with a Death Metal twist. The vocals are a cross between Max Cavalera and Phil Anselmo, but yet distinctive enough to be in it's own catergory. Review by Daniel Schler ============================================ Music Review from SMASH Magazine STRETCHER - Everyone Loves A Tragedy - Stretcher Records Stretcher is metal to the bone. This CD is as hard and grinding as they come. Stretcher is well known in the San Diego metal and hardcore scene. They are heavy hitting and do not mess around with their music. Stretcher can e found playing with many national acts like Cannibal Corpse, Six Feet Under, and many other famous bands that have toured through San Diego. If you are into metal and if you like to rock, you should check out this Stretcher CD, it is amazingly hard. The lead track "Machination" basically describes the sound of Stretcher. They are like a machine with their drums and guitar riffs. For someone heavy hitting and metal, please check out Stretcher from San Diego. You won't be sorry. Review by Michele ============================================== Music Review from SKRATCH Magazine STRETCHER This is San Diego hard-core at it's finest. Their sound is fast, furious, and smooth. The guitars are fuller than a fat guy at a buffet and shred threw every note with a wealth of gritty distortion. This is a well put together record, but with a little help this could be a national act very soon. So, bang your head till blood is rolling out of every orifice, run into your local record shop, and ask for STRETCHER. Review by Monte ======================================== Power and strength reveal themselves in STRETCHER's debut CD, "everyone loves a tragedy. STRETCHER is one of the heaviest most aggressive bands to come out of San Diego in a long time. Within this metal laden CD you will find yourself engulfed in sheer terror as STRETCHER captures the emotions wrapped up in your inner mind. The Bay Area is known for it's heavy scene of metal. STRETCHER takes all of the surroundings and incorporates them into their sound of enraged behavior. Take a listen to this incredibly talented southern California band. They take no pity, so be prepared to be fuckin' drilled by STRETCHER. Review by Robb Kupferer =============================================== THIS IS METAL. THIS REMINDS ME OF NAPALM DEATH, MORBID ANGEL AND HATEBREED. ITS WELL PLAYED AND WELL PRODUCED AND IHAVE NO DOUBT IN MY MIND THAT MANY WILL LIKE THIS BAND. OR WILL EVEN LOVE THIS BAND.IM NOT TOTALLY TO THEM THOUGH BECAUSE AS MUCH AS I LOVE CERTIAN METAL BANDS, THIS ONE DOESNT HIT HOME FOR ME. THERE IS TO MUCH OF THAT NEW METAL INFLUENCE MAYBE, I DONT KNOW. THE DRUMMER IS FUCKING GOOD THOUGH!! HE PLAYS SOME INTENSE DUUBLE BASS ON THIS DISK. ANY WAY IF YOU LOVE METAL CHECK IT OUT!! REVIEW BY BETH SLUG & LETTUCE PO BOX 26632 RICHMOND, VA. 23261-6632 U.S.A ========================================================= "Every so often a band comes around with a certain uniqueness that grabs you from the opening song, and then gets better with every listen. Strectcher's "Heart of Bombs" is a blend of heavy metal riffs and death style vocals. Machine Guns & Angels is a defining track that compels the listener to evaluate their position of good and evil and where it stands within themselves and where it stands within this world." =========================================================================== Reviews Stretcher - Heart of Bombs (Self Release) by Michael Ballue The first time through the first track of this 4 track EP by San Diego's Stretcher, I wasn't sure I was going to like it much. It sounded like competent but run of the mill Death Metal with a dash of hardcore and Nu-metal added. The second track "Illiterate Minds", however, perked up my ears...menacing riff, good song structure, real power going on..yeahh that's good stuff. The third and fourth tracks, while not quite as menacing as the second, definitely kept a high quality. Stretcher is definitely one to keep an eye on, there's an uncontrived power to them, an ability to write good tunes and sheer heaviness, never a bad combo. http://www.hellridemusic.com/bands/s/stretcher_review.shtml =================================================================================== Keegan James 97 Radio Promotions
