Artist description
Lea is an exciting emerging artist on the D.C. music scene. Nominated for "Best New Artist" of 1999 by the Washington Area Music Association, Lea is rapidly developing fans drawn to her memorable original songs and velvety voice, as she performs throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Garth Ross of the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage says of Lea, “When imagining the influences for Lea's music, the obvious starting point would seem to fall within the genre of folk. However, allow yourself to listen a bit longer and a bit closer and you will hear the soulful lyric frankness of blues accompanied by the chordal and melodic complexity of jazz. Ultimately, the strongest influence in her music is Lea, which she projects with charm and ease when she takes the stage.” Her debut CD, "Creation" came out in the Fall of 2000. |

Press Reviews
"...An incredibly talented young woman who must be heard. She has that coveted combination among all singer-songwriters--a powerful, beautifully fluid vocal style, regreshingly creative songwriting skills, not to mention fantastic guitar chops. Lea positively shines both on stage and off." -Amy White, nationally touring musician with Al Petteway |
