Artist History
The evening began in the institutional confines of a SF State Music Department's practice room where guitarists Patrik Sklenar and Lee Burik drove Professors to early retirement with their noise experiments. Characteristically tongue-in-cheek, they named their jazz combo The Ron Jeremy Experience. Imagine Sonic Youth doing a sound track to a Dark Brothers porno flick.
With the help of singer/keyboardist Matt Rist , drummer Greg Gordon, and bassist Adam Hobbs, Patrik and Lee evolved their irreverent jazz combo into Sutra V and began crafting rock songs. They released an album as Sutra V. Amidst the usual band member turnovers, Matt, Patrik, and Lee continued to develop and hone their rich, layered sound into its present incarnation. The additions of charismatic bassist, Zach Brewer, and energetic drummer Brian Kim in 1998, enabled the group to solidify and strengthen into the evening.
