Artist History Ellquist has played in everything from jazz combos in new orleans to charity events with Wynton Marsallis. She has performed chamber music for Anne rice at her home, sung with Aaron Neville for television, and has performed with the New Orleans ballet, and the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. Formerly the bassist for several different rock bands, Sarah has opened for sugar ray and Jurassic five, as well as local band phantom Planet,and has also Performed for the National Organization for Women(NOW). Ellquist is a member of ASCAP, the National Academy of Recording Arts and Ssciences (NARAS), and the International Society of Bassists.

Press Reviews Moody and intense, Sarah Ellquist has been writing and performing music for ten years. She is a classically and jazz trained upright bassist as well as a singer / songwriter. Since moving to Los Angeles, from New Orleans in 1999, Sarah has honed her acoustic sound in a style all her own. Drawing from her jazz roots, and classical studies, Sarah's music has been described as "intoxicating!" Sarah steers clear of conventional "home grown" singer / songwriter themes, focusing on frustration, alienation, and love lost. At a mere 20 years old, Sarah sings beyond her years and wins over audiences with her astounding dynamics. "It's all about the live show -- the audiences and the imperfections of a song crafted on the spot. I've played with every type of group, and every style of music, and that always holds true. I want response. I want intensity. I want people to take my performances and keep them forever -- if I'm performing in a symphony or playing my guitar."
