    Artist description
Raspberry Silk write and play songs about human emotions. Love, Friendship, Hope, Confusion, Anger - the inner thoughts, the things left unsaid, the silences between the words. Kim Novak (Texas) brings her stunning and versatile voice, Milo Black (UK) adds contemporary rock settings. Despite being widely-separated by distance, the creative synergy created by these two musicians, in songwriting and in performance, needs to be heard.

    Artist History
Raspberry Silk started in October 2000, when Milo asked Kim if he could do a remake of her song Space Needle. In November, Milo sent Kim the new version, and Kim recorded a new vocal for the new setting. The finished song (Space Needle 2.0) went Top 10 in the MP3.com Psychedelic chart. After Space Needle, and guesting on Kim's song "A Place For Me", Milo had half a song which might have been part of Milo's Ringworld concept album, but it needed a lyric and someone to sing it. Milo asked, Kim agreed, and Milo finished the song. Kim turned in a startling vocal. They decided to use it as one of the launch songs of Raspberry Silk, although it will still appear on Milo's Ringworld CD. After all this activity, Kim and Milo decided to use the creative chemistry they had found to create a "proper" partnership, rather than just guesting on each other's songs, and Raspberry Silk is the result.

    Press Reviews
REVIEW OF THE "BREATHE" EP by DOUG CORNELL at HITSESSION.COM: It's a damp early autumn evening. In the very near future, snow will fall and the earth will freeze solid. For those who prefer a sunny climate, the new EP from Texas/UK band Raspberry Silk will provide a spark of warmth to help you through the winter. This five song collection is really a collaborative effort by silk-voiced singer Kim Novak and multi-instrumentalist Milo Black. The word "lush" doesn't begin to describe the EP's gorgeous sound. Black expertly creates a delicate background of electric guitars, piano, and percussion, perfect for Novak's clear and engaging voice. Opening with "You Rescue Me," you are taken into a musical tapestry reminiscent of the October Project (a highly underrated classically-inspired outfit). "Oil On Water" features an aggressive acoustic guitar hook and powerful drumming, while Novak sings with conviction about a challenging relationship. "Breathe" enters Pink Floyd territory with its space-rock/acoustic guitar intro, then transforms into a haunting vocal and melodic slice of ear candy. A relaxing tempo is drenched in waves of acoustic and electric guitars in "Waterfall," which also features some surprising electronic trickery and more of Novak's buttery voice. A classic rock style intro opens the last track, "Space Needle," a mid-tempo number that includes one of the most beautiful and memorable vocal melodies you are likely to hear. Breathe is expertly produced and recorded. You'll want to listen to these songs with headphones, so you won't miss a note. Raspberry Silk are not a band that is easily pigeonholed within today's musical environment - this is music that transports you to an entirely different dimension.
