Artist History
Shannon Dyer was exposed to Sarah Elftman's music in 1998. At the time he was recording his music at Leisureforce studio in Dallas, TX. The studio owner, Austin Tate, played Shannon a scratch recording of Sarah's songs. Sarah was living by San Francisco in Concord, Ca, but was moving to Texas soon to complete the album at Leisureforce and be with her mother who was in inexplicable chronic pain.
Shannon and Sarah met when her husband and her went to a Live concert at the bronco Bowl in Dallas, TX. They kept in touch and the project at Leaisureforce didn't go very far before it was canceled. They eventually began recording in Shannon's studio. Both band members presented complete songs and both were recorded.
Sarah had a lack of interest in playing guitar and Shannon didn't want to sing so there was no question what role each person would play. They began learning the material and practiced recording. They had many technical difficulties and Sarah had lack of experience singing into a microphone. It was a struggle.
Sarah started to miss playing the music and not worrying about recording and wanted to perform and get back on stage. She felt like she wasn't experienced enough to record and wanted to get better first. With 40 songs under her belt, she started looking for a band that needed a lead vocalist. Shannon was supportive and decided he was going to focus on expanding his guitar skills and dedicate some time to learning the studio attributes and functions. They kept in touch and got together occasionally to jam and hang out and party.
Sarah answered an internet ad for a female vocalist and befriended Kelly Mader. After a brief audition with Dark Rainbow, Kelly, Dave Tuley, Craig King, decided that Sarah made a good fit. However, Dark Rainbow wanted Sarah to learn bass guitar if she were interested. They also had three lead singers who were also songwriters and musicians. They all performed their own material and rotated certain instruments. It wasn't was Sarah was looking for ultimately, but it was fun so she decided to give it a shot. She also saw it as a challenge and an opportunity. The band changed their name to Liquid Beat and spent a year producing a demo. Sarah discovered she lacked the interest and motivation to be a successful bassist and she was looking more forward to the music with Shannon. The band decided Sarah wasn't what they were looking for and after their first gig Sarah left. Her departure was mutual.
Shannon and Sarah had been working together occasionally trying to meet every Sunday, but they were honestly few and far between practice's. After her break with Liquid Beat they discussed committing their talents to a combined effort and forming and acoustic duo. The time apart proved to be for the better, they both learned valuable lessons and sharpened their skills. They were constantly writing new material and quickly developed a set to play at open mic nights. They ended up writing an average of 1.5 songs every time they got together and within weeks they had over six new songs.
They thought they might attract new band members by playing live and hoped to find ones that appreciated the music. So they decided not to pursue answering ads to audition band members and focused on improving themselves. They recorded their first demo, Dog Tired, May 5th,2001. They accomplished the recording in one day to have it the following day for a show at Club dada. They played Club dada in Dallas, TX regularly for about two months. They came during the open mic night hosted by Tom Prejuan. They quickly built a small fan base and made new friends.
Daniel Gomez, Shannon's first guitar teacher whom he hadn't seen in years, happened to be at Club dada a night Shannon and Sarah played. He approached them and said he was interested in producing a song for them. They agreed and are half way through completing the recording.
Sarah's currently recovering from surgery so things have been on hold for a few weeks. But, they're in process of putting together their website, posting MP3's on mp3.com, forming a band, acquiring a practice studio and begin playing regular gigs.
So, you should be seeing much more from them shortly.

Sarah's Bio
Music is within all of us. I know it's within me. From the smallest age I sung in church with choirs of others. I graced the presence of the band "One ton whisper" for a few years. Those were some good times. I primarily write vocals with harmonies and some music on guitar but instruments aren't my forte'. I learned that the hard way with the band "Liquid Beat" our dark rainbows kept us apart. Now I'm happily doing what I love, creating music with Shannon. We hope you like it too.
Shannon's Bio
I have a deep respect for all different types of music as well as different styles of playing. I've played for the past 14 years, writing music and lyrics and I love recording and composing music. I consider myself to have a very unique style of playing. My favorite music is alternative and classic rock. My favorite guitarist would definitely have to be Jimmy Page. I think people who hear me play can hear a touch of Hendrix in my style. I am also a huge "Live" fan as well. "Throwing Copper" has to be the album of the 1990’s.
