    Artist description
A three-piece band from Leicester. 22 songs in +/- 35 minutes, this can't be bad. This is music that is lent from the whole music history and than put into their own weird music. Whit song titles as "atmospheric change caused by my grandmas orange curtains" and "giraffe expansion device" (it are 22 from this sort of titles!!!!) you get the picture that this is not the usual pop/rock/ punk/wave band. Now it's all together with the term "weirdness" add to it. But I must say the combination of the strange stories and banal song about "have you seen my brown shoes" works out good. The music is mostly fluent punky riffs sometimes fast (a bit like S.O.D in the '80) but you can't mention one genre, and they work with weird samples so you get heavy guitar riffs with at the same time a happy piano riff on the back-ground. I must say that my first impression was that this was a live band playing pup after pup flat bud the band don't play often life. They put most off their music into MP3 format on the net. Surf and find out about this one.

The trio features Pete Cownley on "rhythmic rarefaction and compression of air caused by hitting hollow objects with membranes stretched over them", Simon Tayler "produces a succession of low frequency oscillations" while Paul Lunn "achieves a similar effect at twice the frequency and uses his larynx to produce fluctuations in air pressure"! The band rarely play live - two Abbey Park Festival and LollopaLeicester performances - as top spotted-dog Paul says "gigging seems such an old thing to do, we'd rather put tracks out on the internet!" You won't find any photos of them either - "the world doesn't need another dull picture of ugly musicians!" Perhaps their own description of their sound as "The Buthole Surfers meet the Teletubbies and go out for a curry" isn't so far off the mark! Press Reviews
CD Frank Zappa in a garage straight jacket, stuffed to the gills with hallucinogens and suffering from catarrh... would only sound about half as skizo as Dalmatian Rex on this, their debut full length release for Sorted (and their tracks on the "Brain cakes" and "Suction prints" comps both appear on the LP). You get an idea of the sound from the titles: "The encyclopedia of dental repair technology," "Born to photosynthesise," "Teaspoons are the instruments of Satan," "Chicken karma sutra" and so on. Sonically much like Gag at times, they have a stop/start kitchen sink mentality, tricky wobblesome riffs, dirty power chords, spoken word segments, Brussel sprout mantras---think Beefheart and the Fall. You know how they say that if you were to sit down in one place, eventually everyone in the world would walk past? Well, if you sit and listen to this over and over, you'll eventually hear a bit of everyone who's done something interesting in rock music. "
