    Artist History
Brian Torres started performing musically at the age of eight, singing for classmates in elementary school. At age ten, he took up the trumpet, but shortly there after found his true instrument to be the drums. Soon, he began playing drums in his junior and high school jazz, marching, and symphonic band. At age 18, Brian started his professional music career in Houston, playing in Rock, Jazz, and R&B bands across town. In 1992, he joined his first Latin band. For six years, Brian's tenor voice and steady drum skills propelled him into one of the most versatile musician and vocalists in the Houston Latin music scene which has lead to many appearances singing the National Anthem in Houston's sporting venues. He has performed in front of tens of thousands of people at the Astrodome for the Monster Truck Jam, at the Compaq Center for the Rockets, Comets and Aeroes games, and at Enron field for the Astros. Brian is a current member of ASCAP, and has also won numerous awards for his songwriting and vocal skills. His songs, "Time For You" ('95), "Cada Dia, Cada Noche" ('98), and "Hey Little Girl" ('99), won him an honorable mention in the annual Billboard Songwriting Contest. "Time for You", also netted Brian a runner-up placement in the vocal category of the annual Houston Singer and Songwriters Competition. In '95, Brian won the "Best Male Vocalist" Award presented by the Houston Press Music Association. Two years later, Brian went to New York to compete in the finals of the Buscando Banda's Show, hosted at the famous Tropicana Nite Club, and came away with first place in the International/Pop vocal category. In the summer of 2001, Brian released his debut CD, "Así Va, Así Es" on the Hacienda International label, the largest Hispanic independent record label in the US. His first single and video, "Así Va, Así Es" was released to radio, television, record pools, and clubs throughout the US and in Mexico. As his first single is working its way to the hands of radio program directors and club DJ's, television has been very receptive to the well-produced video that was shot locally in Houston. Jamz, Padrisimo, TMV, Video Mix, HTV, VH1 Uno and MTV S, are some of the video programs that will be airing Brian's video in daily rotation to some 30 million plus viewers in the US, Mexico and Latin America. He has appeared on Padrisimo, TMV and several local video programs to promote his debut CD. Most recently, Brian appeared on the Video Mix Special Tribute to the Hero's of New York City this past October. The special featured Brian's video because of its inspiring message and has aired several times on the Galávision Network since then. This past November, Brian recorded the vocals for the Texas Lottery jingle, which is currently airing on Spanish language radio and television throughout Texas. Brian has also embraced another facet of the entertainment industry, acting. In a relatively short time, Brian has been cast in commercials for Academy, Conn's, and McGregor Medical. Most recently, Brian was cast in a principle role for a Bank of America and Reliant Energy commercial, both of which are currently airing on Spanish language TV. Keep a look out for this upcoming rising star as he makes his presence known and takes the Latin Music Industry by storm.
