Rhythm & Blues songbird Cynthia Manley is a seasoned performer who has the ability to move not only audiences but also fellow artists with powerful renditions of sensuous blues ballads or with upbeat R&B numbers. Like many hardworking, talented artists, Cynthia enjoys playing in clubs and touring. A positive result of this experience led her to recording three critically acclaimed songs which all charted on Billboard. They were: Ain?t No Mountain High Enough, Back In My Arms and Chain Reaction.In addition to these recording credits, Cynthia was named one of the Top Twenty Artists of the year by Billboard Magazine, which resulted in an invitation to perform at the 1993 International New Music Seminar in New York.She is also equally versed in covering funk classics, such as Sly Stone?s "Stand." In fact, her rendition was so captivating, a video was produced of her performance that aired worldwide on VH-1. Often ending in long standing ovations, her dynamic live shows have left audiences in the United States, China and Japan yearning for more.Cynthia has just finished her latest recording; a CD entitled Free As A Bird. ALL OVER THE PLACE, Cynthia Manley's latest CD, is a real winner. The
LA-based singer/songwriter has put together nine songs which showcase
her twin talents in compelling fashion. Known mostly as a hard-rockin',
Janis-like performer, Manley chnages hats here and concentrates on love
songs, some passionate, some lyrical, proud or defiant, but never
trivial or tossed-off. All the material is complex and deeply felt, imbued with her trademark intensity, honesty and musicality. You know that she has lived all these bittersweet tales of love, some of which went well, most of which went south. Manley makes it clear, though, that even if she's been jilted or letdown, she is a survivor and will go on fightin' for real love, no matter what. She is well served by her band and by such first-rate backup singers as Zola Moon, Anne Bertucci and Jessica Williams.
