Artist description
Meet Splyt, a Peninsula-based power quintet that may well be the
most ass-kicking act to crash the Bay Area heavy metal scene since
MACHINE HEAD. A raucous, mind-shattering montage of KORN,
METALLICA, and TOOL, Splyt's groove-oriented
metal vibe has been electrifying audiences up and down the
Peninsula for the last two years, dragging in its wake a growing army
of fanatical fans as the five-man juggernaut surges toward the club
scene with a vengeance.
So…just who is Splyt?
The backbone of this metal monster is the Pacifica
phenomenon Seabrien Arata, without a doubt one of the most
promising and versatile young drumming virtuosi in the Bay Area
today. Complex, intricate rhythms redolent of Terri Bozzio and Neil
Peart fuse with the raw metallic intensity of Lars Ulrich to forge a
spellbinding style that blows fans away, leaving them astonished at
the wunderkind's percussive prowess. Watch for this young star to go
supernova!
Rounding out Splyt's formidable rhythm section is the band's newest
member, talented Millbrae bassist Greg "Grigz" Black. With his
stylistic alloy of funk and metal, evocative of such slapstick legends
as John Paul Jones and Les Claypool, Greg's basslines endow Splyt
with its trademark "groove-oriented metal" savor.
Hetfield-influenced rhythm guitarist Gabe "Freak" Lujan of Daly City lends Splyt a raw animalistic fury and aggression nonpareil,
lunging into the lyrical onslaught with rapid-fire, grind-core backing
vocals rife with primal savagery in such scorching anthems as Want
Mine and The Other Side.
Charismatic lead axeman Derek Staniotes of Brisbane fleshesout the band's multi-faceted instrumental presence with guitar leads
suggestive of such diverse maestros as Hendrix and Satriani,
bestowing a "new age" mantle on the band's eclectic mix.
SPLYT's frontman Eric "Hendu" Henderson from Burlingame mans the
helm of this tempestuous vessel, rocking the boat in a vocal storm
reminiscent of STAIND'S Aaron Lewis. Henderson's lyrical fluency
spans the gamut from melancholy brooding in the acclaimed
power-ballad Secret Life to scathing vengeance in the vitriolic Shut
Down Reset.

Press Reviews
"These guys have the ability to draw in the accessibility of a sound, yet puncture it enough to create an extremely aggressive edge,
all matched by Henderson's melodic type vocal presence."
"Their music just seems to flow well, moving from one riff / feel to another with a good overall structure, never really sounding forced. With a full length disc on the way, and a well executed, strong sound such as theirs, Splyt is moving in the right direction."
