Artist History
A teacher and composer, Kansas City born guitarist Chris
Hudson has performed and studied classical guitar since the
age of 13. Chris' style reflects the influences of American rock
and folk music, and Latin, jazz and world music. The Kansas
City Guitar Society featured Chris as a performer for its
Plaza library, Kemper Gallery and Loose Park series of
classical guitar concerts from 1995 to 2000. On Christmas Eve of
1997, Chris performed during The Morning Show on Channel Fox 4
in Kansas City. In addition, he is the lead guitarist for
acoustic folk duo Dolan & Hudson and the folk jazz trio the
Mystery Dates. He has performed at local Kansas City
midwestern coffeehouses, clubs and bookstores, including

Douglas Niedt at the University of Missouri's Conservatory of
Music in Kansas City, a well-known program of study with an
excellent reputation. His repertoire, while extensive before
attending UMKC, grew in scope and breadth of understanding
and interpretation. Chris now performs works that range in
style and difficulty, from the compositions of J.S. Bach, Villa
Lobos and Astor Piazzolla to the music of The Beatles.
Chris' original compositions complete his varied repertoire.
These songs reflect the influences of many musical genres,
mixing the old with the new; the discipline of traditional
classical guitar intermingles with the freeform styles of
today. Chris' performance and program of music is an
