Artist History
Geoffrey Adams (guitars, vocals) and Dow Veit (drums) came from the ashes of the legendary New Orleans based band, Cousin It. Jared O’Pry joined them on bass. The band immediately went into the studio and released the 1998 gem entitled “Veteran Schoolgirl Syndrome,” which was met in New Orleans by widespread acclaim. Then, in 1999, after a few shows, Jared left the band. He was replaced later that year by veteran New Orleans bassist Neil Heusel. The band went on to play for another year before releasing the 2000 EP “Beer for Breakfast,” which was also met by uniform praise. But at that point, Neil had begun breeding like a rabbit and the rigors of child care caused Shag’s live appearances to become few and far between. Now, with the Heusel family’s childcare issues receding, they are currently rehearsing for a full length album, reportedly to be produced by Bob Mould. Most insiders in the New Orleans music scene are optimistic that this new release may break new barriers in the current form of rock music. |
