Artist description It’s been a long journey for Jeffrey Rolland Willis (aka Kandyman and half of DJ Fodder) but it’s been worth the frequent flyer points. Transporting himself from hippie-haven Eugene, Oregon, USA (although originally from Springfield!), Jeff set his sights on his first pair of decks a decade ago as Brutha Luv spinning the freshest house, trance and San Francisco breaks to come from the underground playing alongside such west coast dance luminaries as Taylor, Spun, Aquaman and Jeno. Packing his gear and turning his sights to our shores, Kandyman was born - harder but with that instantly recognisable groove. Since moving to Melbourne, Australia in 1994, (where his first gig was at Climax with Will E Tell, Jeff Tyler and Scott Alert), Jeff has performed alongside Claude Young, Christopher Lawrence and Chris Liberator at such varied events as Every Picture Tells a Story (10 through 20), Hardware Universe (99-Kryal), Rainbow Serpent Festival, Pleazure, War of the Worlds 2 and Earthcore showing an enormous versatility and respect for all forms of dance music. This flexibility to adapt through the years as a DJ and producer has landed him promo work for ABC radio, Rocket Dog Shoes and the sound creator for various websites. Djing aside, productions over the past few years have encompassed such sounds from techno to breaks and ambient with newer productions incorporating vocals that dare to challenge today’s dance stylings. Original music is available on Kiss FM’s CD ‘Sounds of Australia’, 909 Records (Sydney) compilation ‘Esoteric Psychology’, Little Nobody’s ‘Action Hero’ & ‘Re-Action Hero’, ‘Every Picture Tells a Story’ Vols 2 and 3 and his sounds have been heard on Triple J, RRR, Rage TV and KissFM.
