Press Reviews
PERFORMING SONGWRITER - Once again, a European label (Blue Rose) discovers an American act before one of those in his own country. Well, at least it gives us all the opportunity to discover him ourselves before he's shoved down our throats by (insert huge multinational music company logo here). It could happen...Parsons, a DIY alumni, has the heightened sensitivity of your standard issue male singer-songwriter. But he also has the technology to rock when the mood and the song calls for it. He wrote or co-wrote 9 of the albums' 10 songs (the lone cover is a Sam Phillips song). Lyrically, Parsons has interesting ideas and imagery, with an attraction to both grace and darkness. Musically, he holds his own on acoustic guitar and is backed up by guys like Chuck Treece (drums), Ian Cross (guitar), Scott Bricklin (bass), Michael Mennies (keyboards), and others. Cross and Bricklin helped Parsons produce the album, giving it more of a band feel than a solo project. Band or solo, Parsons is one to keep an eye on.************************************************** INTRO MUSIKMAG - Germany(Translation from German by Heather Fleming) His expressive voice and seamless lyrics prove him to be an experienced dealer in emotions. Mature, convincing US-guitar rock with a pinch of ethnicity that seems to grow with every listening. ************************************************** ROLLING STONE - Germany...collection of fragile soul-trips... ************************************************** MUSIC MINDED Magazine - The Netherlands(Translation from Dutch) Real emotions packed in small film-noire scripts of 4 minutes. 'Sister Moon' does not get surpassed. Beautiful. |
