Artist History upon reaching solid ground after an abrubt transplant to the bay area, tim crossed paths with mike in a random search for recording based collaboration. deciding that the steril and multi-user unfriendly world of hard disk based recording was not a fertile area for group development, the two decided to break out the guitar and drums for an evening of jamming. one song was played - it lasted over an hour - and initiated the free structural pattern that they try to keep flowing today. hoping to fill out the sound, tim changed roles and started playing bass and a variety of drummers came into the circle. it was hard to find the proper fit, being that the nature of the music ran from jazz to dub to experimental to... after 3 tries, the two converted to a much more minimal approach, having two guitars as the main sound sources. it remained as such for months, with practice 3 times a week focusing on unspoken communication through the music and interplay. they went for another try at the percussion thing, which went quite well. improvisation riegned supreme, and the trio (with new found drummer, warren) built quite a set with jams lasting hours at a time. months of playing resulted in a collection of over 20 hours of material to be sorted through, refined, and formed in to coherent musical compositions. in this down time things changed again, and mike and tim were back at it as a twosome. the next phase in the growth project is developing the various musical themes touched upon in the sessions from months before. they're trying to stray from the typical confines of traditional instermentation, using a mpc-2000 workstation as their new backing band and somehow translating it all into an organic presentation. two cds are available from us direct. email for more info.
