Artist History
Friends Help recorded dozens of songs from 1970 to 1974, while its members attended Carnegie-Mellon University. We used a sound-on-sound reel-to-reel Sony TC-252 tape recorder, with only fuzz and reverb effects at our disposal. Nonetheless we were able to produce some surprising sounds. Some people thought we sounded good stoned. Now we are all middle-aged men. The tapes are wearing thin and so is our hair. It is time to archive and share these memorable recordings. |

Group Members
From left to right... Rob Simbeck - acoustic or electric guitar, kazoo, harmonica, vocals. Lots of coffeehouse credentials. Why ain't he a country superstar? He can play C-F-G and not look down at his guitar.Eric Maatta - acoustic guitar, vocals, songs of contemplation. The quiet one. Should have studied under Ravi Shankar.Craig Collins - percussion, keyboards, bass, and some guitar noises. The recording engineer. Sings like Ringo. |

Instruments
Anything we could lay our hands on. Guitars, bass, harmonica, kazoos, melodica, cowbell, cymbal, saucepan, piano, mattress, telephone... |

Press Reviews
You must be joking. Rob once wrote them, but he never wrote one for us. |

Additional Info
Lou Trott and Bruce Irving joined in on several songs... Bruce actually recorded some of his songs in a studio, woo hoo. But he will have to do his own site. |
