Artist description
Performing intense, organic sound poems, the Eye of Newt Collective is part of the growing Improvised Music scene. Playing music loosely described as a mixture of ambient trance and the Avante Garde, the Collective thrives to play where instrumental tones meet found sounds. The harmony will sometimes dive deep into the sounds of an undulating swamp or a collage of machinery. At other times naturalistic sounds suggest melodies that interact seamlessly with cello, guitar and bass. The Collective's music is direct and visceral, perhaps one reason for its strangely wide appeal. |

Artist History
The Eye of Newt Collective formed during my brief return from Israel to Colorado in the winter of 1997. During the three months I was in Colorado the music for Ewald was composed and recorded. The album was then mixed and produced during the following year in Tel Aviv. In Feb of 1999 I joined co-founder Andreas Hernandez in Vancouver B.C. where alto saxophonist Mark Nodwell joined us. Our latest project was a live improvised soundtrack to Fritz Lang's silent film Metropolis(1927). |
