Press Reviews
"Eclectic Connection" This group from Singapore layers great electronics with superb guitar work to produce some remarkable tracks. This track has some very significant Pink Floyd overtones despite the notes that credit influence to the Cure. Their successful exploration of a variety of genres is worth a listen. ***** "YOUR Classic Summer of Psychedelic Love Album" Perfectly classic and awesome Floyd-esque psychedelic music from Singapore! It's amazing how much of the freshest Rock on the planet is coming out of Asia these days. I was the first station creator at mp3.com to experience much success in promoting Asian recording artists to a global audience, and as long as they stay this good I will be happy to continue doing it
***** "Brian Eno-esque? You bet!"Great Eno'n'U2-esque Asian Rock! I must have been one of the first Americans to realize that creative Asian musicians were going to become a big factor in the global music culture...and now anyone can see that this is really happening! I think for myself about music, politics, life and everything, and create stations for other free-thinking people who like to be a bit ahead of the curve
***** "Radio KRAP - It's A Small World, Dude." You just can't make a song like this - unless you know what your talking about - in this case, it hits a "Damba Depot" soft spot! Excellent work "embryo." ***** SOULFUL! "FAT CITY LIMITS"
Driving instrumental from embryo out of Singapore. This piece is rather unstructured and experimental, but I LIKE IT. Too much fun stuff happens in the space of the song to worry about the structure. I rarely give up on structure, but I honestly enjoyed the ride here for its own sake. TRIVIA: Artist says that he "was inspired by a conversation with a travelling transvestite back in my club circuit days." I'm trying to work out how that figures in here, but it's interesting trivia nevertheless
