Press Reviews
Bruce Hayes & Ragged Mountain BRUCE HAYES & THE RAGGED MOUNTAIN RAMBLERSfeaturing Bruce Hayes, Jeff Reynolds, Les Choy, and Jeremie Wegner The Ragged Mtn. Ramblers hail from either side of Ragged Mtn. (Crested butte and Hotchkiss). They've been performing a blend of bluegrass, swing, and world grooves around the Rockies for the more than 3 years. Bruce Hayes sings, plays mandolin, guitar, dobro, harmonica, and feet. He writes many of the songs performed by the group including material from his new CD, "Lunch". Jeff Reynolds plays upright bass and sings backup. He's been performing around the North Fork Valley for 19 years with everyone from Rosewood to Tom Paxton. Les Choy plays guitar, banjo, kalimba, percussion, and sings some too. With over 20 years on the western slope, he’s played in many bands including: The Cimarron String Band, Space Janitors, and his own latin-jazz ensemble, Bamboo Steamer. The Ramblers had a busy summer this past year appearing at the Silverton Folk Festival and the One World Fest. as well as their usual gigs at weddings, bars, picnics, and sub-division openings. They are featured on the Pack of Dogs Colorado Sampler CD and on Hayes' latest CD "Lunch", where they are joined by many fine Colorado talents including: Tony Furtado, Dave Watts, and members of the String Cheese Incident, Leftover Salmon, and Acoustic Junction. Here's Bruce Hayes' promo: "...the most phenomenally talented performer you've ever seen. A master of the guitar, mandolin, and dobro, he even dances a rhythm while he plays - Bruce will astound you. He writes great songs, has a hell of a voice and is a supreme entertainer." Acoustic Coffeehouse, Nederland CO "...Bruce Hayes is the Jimi Hendrix of the mandolin..." Crested Butte Chronicle & Pilot Bruce Hayes' awesome acoustic string plucking never overpowers his sensitive, but witty songs. His voice -- and tunes -- come off somewhere between Lyle Lovett and James Taylor. Imagine a guitar player as good as Michael Hedges sharing the spotlight with Paul Simon. Inspired. |
