Artist History We were originally formed by Adrian Ott (Vocals/bass), talking in chemistry class. Mike (drums) was thinking of starting another band with a new style, as he was tired of bands like Korn and Slipknot, and wanted to become a little more punk/emoish like The*Ataris and Slick Shoes. Adrian, after leaving the popular band Hippocampus (formally OCD), was eager to start writing and playing again. Rory, a good friend, was asked to fill the opening in the Sounds Familiar crew play ing guitar. He slowly accepted, but he was almost sure he wasn't ready. When our first practice came around, we thought that maybe Rory needed a little work. Quietly, Mike and I agreed to give him some time to deal with timing and writing issues, but more and more it seemed like he was getting more and more lost. Sounds Familiar was ready to move on. And so, as the sessions grew less and less productive, we turned to Rory as the culprit. We felt, as a band, that it wouldn't work out with him slowing us down. Recently it seemed, another guitarist became available. I talked to Steve (Vocals/Guitar) about replacing Rory in the band. He agreed, and Sounds Familiar rejuvenated their musical talent. As soon as it started, Sounds Familiar lost yet another guitar player due to parents and stress and school. Sounds Familiar began another journey for a guitar play and in about 3 months of vigorous searching, Jake Butler was found. We jammed with Jake for a while and felt somthing was missing, thats when we decided to add another member of the group Tory Escargesga, on rhythm guitar. And YET AGAIN, Sounds Familiar has stood up to the test of time, and the music is brought back to life in a more solid form.
