Artist History Words are not enough to express the deeply rooted emotions we all have. For four young men music is their emotional outlet. Formed in 1994, i wish i have performed in venues that range from enormous concert halls that feature bands such as Radiohead to coffee shoppes that have long since departed. Growing in popularity over the years, i wish i have attained a small, yet loyal, crowd in San Diego and the world over. Each member of i wish i is very diverse--both in personality and musical styles. Joseph Guevara (vocals/guitars) is quite a unique individual. With influences ranging from jazz to punk rock, he developed a style of his own only to be matched by his introspective song writing. Music is love of Joseph's life. During his short stay at the Berklee College of Music, he explored the vastness of his musicality. With his unique style and friendly face he welcomes all who will listen. Jay Alejandria (guitars) may have little, if anything, to say, but when it comes to creating music you will understand some of the mysteries of the silent one. With his heavy influence of DC-core and experimental guitar, Jay brings on a new dimension as his musical style complements Joseph's. June Cate (bass/vocals) delivers the subtle hard edge that i wish i has come to be known for. With his hardcore background and aggressive playing style, he emotional outlet is certainly unabashed. June accompanies Joseph as he belts out his cries to the world in order to rid himself of the pain inside.Gabriel Gamboa (drums) holds no bars when it comes to musical innovation. His offbeat style and rhythm bring the whole band together. This is also true about Gabriel himself. Without Gabriel the band would fall apart, as is with any other member. With influences from jazz to DC-core, his swift and smooth playing only brings the band to a higher level.Throughout the history of the band, members have gone to form other bands. Joseph formed Jejune, which in turn led to his current endeavor -- Love Light Shine. June had played in the bands Kill Holiday and Impel. Gabriel went on to play for Kill Holiday, and now in the band The Landslide with fellow bandmate Jay.Having not played for over a year, I wish I is once again gearing up for a final set of shows. In fact, placing i wish i in a genre would only belittle the unique and innovative band. Hear and feel for yourself what happens when emotions and music rhythmically collide to form i wish i.
