Artist History
Formed by David Kelley and Jason Dickey in the fall of 1999 The Frail started as a much more 'dance-driven' goth/industrial group. After the addition of Dej Hanley in the fall of 2000, the band's sound began to slowly morph into something else entirely. Gone were dance-friendly drum machines and simplistic guitars, they were replaced by thrash-style riffing and skate punk speed. A year later Steve Barry was added, bringing an even harder dimension to the already violent sound. And then only about a year ago, the drum machine (affectionatley dubbed 'the professor') was replaced by a walking drum machine. With the final addition of Snakes the band's lineup (and sound) was complete. Part black-metal, part punk, while still retaining the hook-laden synths of industrial. Adding to this already potent mixture are dark, introspective lyrics, anthematic choruses, and drive. |
