Artist History
Started as a studio project with Todd Gilliland(Joy Electric) and Sam Barnhart(Bleach). They released an independent EP and opened up for Bleach and Joy Electric on their fall tour in 1999 and then headlined a tour in Winter of 2000. Todd became friends with Joy Electric and soon became their full time drummer. Soon after, Todd was hired as a guitart tech for an artist by the name of Jennifer Knapp. On tour with her, Todd wrote and recorded many songs on the bus in his spare time. After signing a deal with friend and bandmate from Joy Electric, Jeff Cloud, on Velvet Blue Music, Tim Tabor(Prayer Chain) teamed up with Cloud and signed the Gold on to his label, Floodgate Records. With a record in the works, the Gold, with frontman Todd Gilliland and Mike Metzger on percussion and organ, sought out on their second and largest headlining tour in January of 2001. Soon after that "love is a science EP" was released in spring of 2001. "Wesley" their sophmore project was released in April of 2002. |
