Artist History
Allfader hails from Mo i Rana in Northern Norway, and plays brutal, melodic, dark metal.
The band was formed by John and Finn in February 2001, and recorded the demo "Nightfall" in April/May.
In fall 2001 guitarist Per joined, and Tor on keyboards.
They then proceeded to record their second demo, "Furore Normannorus" during X-mas 2001, a brutal assault of rage and melody.
Almost exactly one year after the bands birth, Allfader signed a deal with Rage of Achilles to release a MCD and a full length album. We have, however, in agreement with Rage of Achilles decided not to release an album there. So we are currently on the lookout for a new deal.
Summer of 2002 the band finally got their hands on a drummer (hard to come by in northern Norway), Cato Skivik. He debuted on the bands third demo. Also, the band's lust for playing live has been given a significant boost.
In medio October 2002 Allfader decided to find a bass player so John could concentrate on vocals, and Kurt Solbakken joined the band for the bands first concert, the release party for "From the Darkest Star". Then Frode Fridtjofsen was taken in as the band's new permanent bass player, and the band is complete!
November 11th 2002 Allfader's debut MCD "From the Darkest Star" was released through Rage of Achilles. The MCD contains the band's entire second demo, two re-recorded tracks from the firste demo, and to new never-released songs. The band held a release party and played a live set, which went extremely well.
August 1. 2003 the band played their second concert, at a local festival named "Sjonstock". 3,500 people attended the festival, and Thor was on our side - the sky blackened and thunder and lightning erupted when Allfader entered the stage and gave a stunning show, at breakneck speed. Pyrotechnics and a great crowd boosted the show and made for a very memorable night for both the band and the audience.
The band is now trying to play as much live as possible, and at the same time looking for a new label to release their album. Watch out for a new demo early in 2004!

ALLFADER (Norwegian for Father of All) is very young band, formed back in February 2001. They start of very nice and powefull, and this course the maintain throughout the whole CD. Although being such a young band they don't tend to sound amateuristic, keeping in mind that this is not really their proper debut CD. From The Darkest Star is a gathering of their two demo ep's, re-recorded and remixed they show us a piece of craftmanship rarely heard on demo songs. Although the normal course of most of the bands is to release their demo material on CD when they get some name and fame these guys went another course. Hearing this I really am curious what the full CD will sound like. My first impression here was that it all was rather melodic and furious but they have some heroic 'viking' moments too. They call themselves melodic dark metal, and they have a point although being rather furious and fast sometimes they have a very dark sound.
One thing I have to point out is the drums, on their site there's a drummer in the line-up and on the CD there isn't and when I was listening to the CD I hear a drum computer and if not it is a very triggered drumset. I think they didn't have a drummer for the recording and now they have. Because the drums are to clinical for me, it's the only thing I don't really like, not that the drum paterns are bad but just the sound is too clean. They singing is nothing out of the ordinary just good and steady, the clean parts are not that steady but not bad at all. Normally I don't like keyboards or at least not all the time, they use it rather good and balanced not too much or at least not anoying. With this kind of powerfull production I think they will conquer a fair share of the black/dark metal fans who aren't afraid of changes. Maybe it's something for those who like EINHERJER (new), ENSLAVED (new), MÅNEGARM,... elements of these kind of bands are clearly present. I think judging from these songs (who were originally demo songs) they might get a good place in the scene.

Jedenfalls hebt sich „From the Darkest Star“ doch sehr wohlwollend vom Rest ab.
