Artist description
5%Joe is an emo band. Or are they? Their fusion of the Hardcore/Metal scene they wer born in, the punk they started with, and the emo they love, has give 5%joe a sound all their own. Filled with metal phrasing, indie rock stylings, and some emotional lyrics: 5%joe is not to be missed. |

Artist History
5%joe started as a punk rock band in central Vermont. It's conception came when Frank Smecker(lead guitarist) approached Geoff Walker(rythmn guitarist/lead vocalist) at a Poison The Well show. They quickly rounded up a drummer and bassist and within the first practice they were rocking Frank's garage with some poppy punk rock. They recorded their first demo after a month of practicing and lost their bassist in the same day. 5%Joe spent about a month playing shows without a bassist. Well, they ended up with another bassist, but he was a shady character and ended up moving away for unkown reasons. At this point the band was moving in a new direction and the drummer disagreed with the new style so... Frank and Geoff did what anyone would do, they stole a drummer and bassist from another band. Needless to say, Tony Rossi and Chris Brussa were the missing links in 5%joe. But, being punk in a metal dominated scene is not easy. So they finally decided to embrace the metal and icorporate it into their sound. That combined with the member's obsession with Emo brought about the 5%joe we all know and love today. Except Geoff just wanted to focus on singing so a third guitarist was picked up to fill out the sound and play some secondary lead elements. Thus with Devon Landry added 5%joe became perfect. |
