Artist History
In september 1994, Valerio Valentini (vocals) and Matteo Catarisano (keyboards) start an artistic/music-based project that for some time remains in an early stage. Since then, the idea is to form a group of persons sharing their passion for music, seen as a basic vehicle of expression. The first months are a succession of experiments of arrangements and a search of suitable fellow travellers.
Until may, 1997, many are the friends who alternate at the different instruments, contributing, in different measures, to the sound maturation of a still nameless band. Ale Venturi, Simone Vannini and Roberto Cordone (guitars) have been very important, and not only regarding artistic growth, to a project still in a embryonal stage. Massimo Solino becomes an effective member of the band as a bass guitar player.
From now on, in a short amount of time, the project takes a concrete shape, acquiring its first steady line-up. The six elements are: Luca Reynaud (drums), Ryan Castana and Andrea Ungaro (guitars) apart from Valerio, Matteo and Massimo.
October 1997 officially marks the beginning of the works, with the arrangements of the songs composed in the previous three years.
A year later EDERA becomes the definitive image for the project: a name taken as a reference and representing at the same time the artistic path set out by the band.
Until september, 1999, EDERA evolves in a discontinuos way, through concerts and new compositions; despite some inner contrasts, the artistical vein does not exhaust. In the following four months the strain gets unbearable, and leads to two painful separations: the interruption of relations with Luca and Massimo brings on a dangerous, but luckily short, black-out. These two elements are replaced by Matteo Ungaro (drums, in october 1999) and consequently (february 2000) Alex Ferraris, as a temporary bass player. In may, 2000, Alex becomes a permanent member of the band, contributing from the very beginning to re-constitute a serene and relaxed atmosphere, ideal for the continuation of the works. At the same time the mixing process of seven songs takes place: recorded form february to may of that year, they will constitute the band first Demo CD. This CD, simply named Edera, is completed in August and distributed to magazines and radio stations in the following months.
Autumn 2000 sees the group engaged in different fronts: the never-ending compositive work alternates to the the mixing process of the new songs (for the second Demo) and to the project of creating the band's web site.
