    Artist History
The year 2000 marked the beginning of a new powerful metal band from Chicago called TWELFTH GATE. With former Syris members, Scott Huffman (vocals) and Rob Such (bass), joining forces with Rich Knight (guitars) and Mike Nevaril (drums), from the former Chicago metal band Venery, TWELFTH GATE is on a mission to record and release an album that will place them among the elite of the metal genre. In a time when the American "metal" scene has been consumed with the sounds of "nu-metal", TWELFTH GATE stands out by providing a fresh and powerful sound, while still maintaining their traditional metal influences. With intense guitar work and a massive-sounding rhythm section providing a foundation for powerfully melodic vocals, TWELFTH GATE delivers a style of metal all their own. In April of 2001, TWELFTH GATE recorded a 4-song demo with Studio One’s Chris Djuricic & already the band has witnessed quite a buzz in the underground metal scene. Within only months of debuting their demo, TWELFTH GATE has been asked to open shows for bands like Flotsam & Jetsam, Helstar (reunion tour), Steel Prophet, Reign of Terror and is quickly becoming the premier metal act in the Chicago area. By promoting themselves through playing shows and the release of their upcoming debut album (yet untitled), TWELFTH GATE plans to forever make their mark on the world of metal.

    Press Reviews
"Nice chunky riffage. Awesome heavy vox. This new sound is totally a communication between 80's classic power metal sound and new millenium sensibilities. Not Nevermore or Angel Dust, but their own thing. No one is going to dismiss this as a bunch of old-guys wielding swords and re-hashing old riffs in castles while fighting dragons. Hell, I love that stuff too Hammerfall, Rhapsody, Stratovarius, etc), but this sound is totally contemporary while capturing the underground intensity of the mid 80's Power/Thrash scenes and its (now) classic themes. No, the music of TWELFTH GATE is not nu-metal like Limp or Korn or Slipknot, but it does embrace more contemporary influences in a very intersting way. TWELFTH GATE forges a new revival of Old in the New in a way that is somewhat more convincing and less prone to anachronism (which I love also) than the now defunct Syris. The overall effect is a fresher, more up-to-date sound, but they also manage not to compromise their allegiance to Classic Metal, and that is the trick! I love this new sound that is TWELFTH GATE and I totally want you to inform me when this will be available so I can buy it! You rule and these new songs have me totally pumped for anything new you put out as Twelfth Gate." - Rob Mathers
