GODS OF MUSIC REVIEW:
ARTIST: ANTIBODY MUSIC
SONG: ATOMIC
GENRE: ELECTRONIC / HARD HOUSE
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Antibody Music's track starts unspectacularly with a house organ and some samples of military dialog.
At first I thought "what is this?" but soon I discovered, after the long intro, a tight dance-floor stomper with a very intelligent approach. The samples fit very well to the rhythm and the cynical atmosphere of the song. The synthesizer sounds are conservative for connoisseurs of house music, but selected very tastefully and appropriate for the song and arrangement.
I can imagine this song coupled with a laser show in a big club, as the club opener or a demo show for example.
I like all the song’s breaks and little gimmicks. For example in the second part of the song, there is some kind of 1950's radio sample which I think fits perfectly in the rhythm. Really surprising and done with sensible taste.
The sound quality is top-notch for the genre and guarantees a lot of fun on the dance floor. Rich bass and a good balance in the mix overall are the main highlights. The drum sounds are very good in as well !
While a matter of taste, I hoped to hear more playing with stereo panoramas. Over wide distances, the song appears to be in Mono and 'static' in the panorama mix. This doesn't detract from the song's impact, but I think a little bit more variety of panorama modulations would help by getting more attention and creating enjoyment for the interested listener.
This is a very motivating and powerful house track, dancing satisfaction guaranteed. However it is not only for dancing as the arrangement and original samples assemble to convey a deeper meaning. The song's theme may even lead to some interesting discussions at the club bar!
This track is one of the rare examples where some kind of intellectual yet critical message is delivered successfully via a house track.
