Artist History
The Brass Ring was assembled in one of the greatest musical cities in the world, Vienna, Austria. Studying in Vienna, along with other members of the Duke University Wind Symphony, Brian, Gary, Mike, Erik, and Jacob could not contain their need to make music. They stayed after normal rehearsals, often to the dismay of the auditorium staff, trying to blend and perfect their sound. On a particularly nice day, when the rehearsal hall was closing early, The Brass Ring decided to hold their rehearsal just outside the rehearsal hall, on the courtyard of the Hofburg Palace. To their amazement, musically minded Viennese pedestrians began to stop and listen, and some even threw money into strewn about cases! From then on The Brass Ring took every possible opportunity to play in the streets as they traveled through Europe. These performances often included impromptu meanderings through the assembled crowd, and sparked new performance ideas for the group. The ultimate goal for The Brass Ring is to become more than merely a musical ensemble, to incorporate costumes, choreography, and singing into future performances...and to give their listeners a Unique Brass Experience. |
