Artist description
Talentless disgrace to music... =)
I listen to music... I enjoy music... And I live my life to music.
I just can't create any.
This is my sorrowful attempt. The songs aren't wonderful; they are so far from that it's almost funny. Almost. Quit laughing. =)
This is just my release... |

Artist History
The side-project was a spur-of-the-moment deal that came into existence in April 2001. At first it was called The Marlowe Project, and then later got changed to Ear Against The Wall, which is a title of a song written with H.ff (other band). It was created for Her, inspired by Her, and always will be... Hers. The History of this project would probably be a tale of a short-lived romance that defied so many boundaries. It was a romance that lines parallel to my romance with music... I love it with all my heart and soul, yet it could never love me...

Press Reviews
"Into That Place of Sleep", by Chrystal, taken off H.ff's fansite "Focus".
My first tangible taste of Tristan's music came from the opening strings of this EP, this pet project of his that is going beyond the ears of that "certain someone" he created it for. It is everything you would expect from Tristan – from the bittersweet lyrical beauty to the emotion that peeked between his solemn vocals.
As rushed and crappy as he claims the tracks are, the distinct Tristan-ness of all three songs remains. His crescendos were off, his lows were... well they weren't really there :), his voice bred nervousness... And this is coming from a non-singer. But yet, what makes "In the Place of Sleep" so quietly addictive is the melodic peace it emits. I'm a sucker for acoustics and would bleed for lyrics that capture the right moment, and these three songs weave together those elements so calmly. Even with the distortion and imperfections of a last-minute DIY project, "In the Place of Sleep" is soft and lulling. To exaggerate just a little – it has the ability to take you into that place of sleep, into the mysterious comfort and caress of sleep.
I would listen to this in the place of sleep any night. And so far, every night.

"Project Review: C+", by Jacob Klein, taken off "Focus"
The last thing I need after coming home from a long day's work is to find my apartment empty and a mix tape and note that reads: "Do me a favor. Write a review on this."
It has been over a year since the first and last time I heard H.ff play, and this singer's voice still has not changed, which isn't too much of a bad thing. Tristan Dermott's voice is uniquely pitched for a nineteen-year-old, high but not too squeaky, smooth and yet raw - very unique. His singing though, is strangely unpracticed, considering that he has been singing with H.ff for over two years. A year ago, I overlooked his uneven singing, but in his solo effort as The Marlowe Project, it screams of anxiety - very odd for a lead singer in a band.
As for the music, it's sweet, simple – very simple – acoustic guitar strumming through the whole ten minutes' worth of the demo EP, released online and tentatively titled In The Place Of Sleep. From that name alone you can imagine the lyrics of the songs – moody and obscure. After quickly surfing onto the official website, finding the lyrics, then finding myself mouthing the lyrics to the songs, I come to the conclusion that although Dermott is obviously more poet than musician, all in all it is not too bad.
The Marlowe Project's demo is weirdly pretty in that it is no musical phenomena, not even minimally excitable, but yet has this lo-fi sound that is quite pleasant to listen to.
What bothers me is that I have to rewind the damn tape after ever ten minutes just to hear it over again.
