    Artist History
Walter Adams left Faster Pussycat and started the Dirt Merchants with Jack Rivera from the Stains (E.L.A., first album on SST Records!!!), Matt Hatter, Robert Cripps (brother of Mick Cripps of LA Guns), and Alice Star. Lasted about 2 years like that. Alice was frontman. He left in 89 right after Chris Trent (that be me, too many bands to list) joined replacing Robert. Not sure why Robert left. He was still there pretty much everytime we played hanging out and sharing our drink. Lasted about eight or ten months like that. Walter and Jack handled all of the singing duties in place of Alice. It was sounding great. The sessions here are recorded with the two of them singing. Done in January, 1990 with Nikki Sudden producing. We also did a blues backing Nikki which he kept the master of and was supposed to release later under his name. He ended up redoing the song with REM and releasing it. I guess that is cool but our version makes theirs sound very very very weak by comparison. Alice was a great frontman and I am trying to dig up tapes from that period. All I remember was when we palyed behind Alice the crowd reaction was just nuts and about 90% girls screaming like at a Beatles show! Jack Rivera left the band right after we did the sessions with Nikki Sudden to start the Homewreckers who have an amazing record out on Victory Records. It is a pure blues band in the vain of Peter Green era Fleetwood Mac. Did well internationally and you can find it in the blues bins. It was produced by Kim Simmonds of Savoy Brown. I think it is a must have record but I am biased as I joined them for a year (again on bass) replacing a long who's who of bass players. It was an honor to serve as we tore up every joint we ever played. Kevin (forgot his last name) joined the Dirt Merchants to repalce Jack, we rehearsed everything for about a month then everyone's girlfriend did a weird swap thing on us next thing you know we disbanded. Can't live with them, can't shoot them. Walter Adams retired.

    Press Reviews
I think they pretty much hated us. But the girls took good care to help us forget.
