Artist description
Laura Doyle's a new recording artist, Canadian (but born in Glendale, CA), and presently fascinated with electronica, loops and digital recording. She mostly loves to pen tunes that relate directly to her rather troubled but nonetheless inspiring life experiences. Many of the tracks on her new album were co-written with Sean Eyre who has also seen his share of trouble and inspiration. |

Artist History
Laura Doyle has done what most independent artists find impossible. She has a song in daytime rotation on Vancouver’s hottest radio station Z95.3. “Let You Go” has received over 8 weeks of radio play and is the only independently released song the station has added in a year. The powerfully performed piece of music also won Doyle the regional prize of the Canadian National Songwriting competition. The timing is perfect because Doyle just released her debut CD “no easy answers” to local record stores. Laura Doyle’s music career has had a rather unusual start. Three years ago she found herself in L.A. meeting with the CBS show “Early Edition” to pitch ideas for their upcoming TV season. She had spent the previous six years enjoying a successful stint as a TV writer in Vancouver for shows like “Neon Rider” and “Madison”but moved to tinsel town to try her pen at the big time. CBS promptly contracted Doyle to write her first idea, however, it was the second idea she pitched that had more impact on her life. It was a story about a young singer who risked her life savings to make it in music. Laura realized she didn’t want to write about that singer she wanted to live that life. Laura returned to Vancouver, gave up writing scripts for songs and now creates music with producer Sean Eyre who was nominated as Producer of the Year in the 1997 West Coast Music Awards. Laura and Sean conceptualize their approach to music as balancing the earthy principles of voice and guitar with the more progressive and often ethereal qualities of electronica. They have just completed co-producing her debut album “no easy answers” which has just been released independently in the Vancouver area. Laura’s new single “Let You Go” was also used on the Canadian TV series “Cold Squad” this past season. The TV cop drama also licensed a second song from the newly released album and has indicated they would like to make Doyle’s music a bigger part of the show for their new season. Two tracks from the new album, including the current single, have also been liscensed by Canadian director Anne Wheeler’s (Loyalties, Bye Bye Blues) new film “Suddenly Naked”. As a screenwriter, Laura Doyle was best known for her ability to tap into volatile emotions and this skill translates directly in her approach to making music. She believes people listen to music to “feel” something and as modern people living so much virtual life, we need music to bring us back into our bodies; back into the natural rhythms of life. Laura Doyle is an evocative new voice on the music scene and, if her successful track record writing for the small screen is any indication, she’s certain to connect with audiences worldwide. |
