Artist description We take influences past and current from all cultures & styles and create grooves and sounds that reflect the vibes and moods of our lives in hope that listeners will relate to these feelings we communicate. Our sound has an adventurous and exploring character that is new yet familiar. Driving yet w/ very complex subtleties in rhythms and counter rhythms and also in melody and harmonies. The rhythm and vibes of our music are easy to dance to as well as listen and chillout to. An interesting blend of synthesized, electric and organic sounds and feels. You can hear the influences from a variety of styles such as Brazillian, Afro Cuban, Middle Eastern, Indian, Polynesian, Blues, Jazz, Pop, House, Electronic, Rock, Drum & Bass, Industrial, Asian, R&B and good ole 4 on the floor club/dance music.

Artist History This is the first album project collaboration for Yvette, John and Sam collectively known as the gruvdisciples.

Group Members The core group is Yvette Marine on vocals, John Forte on acoustic and electric guitars and Sam Domingo on keyboards, drum programming, sax and backing vocals. Yvette is from L.A. and was one of Rick James ( aka Super Freak) productions the "Mary Jane Girls". During that time she was known as Corvette. Since then Yvette has been a top working session singer as well as a published songwriter. Sam and John are the producing and songwriting team known as Loud Sunday. John is also from L.A. and Sam is orginally from the San Francisco/Oakland Bay area but has lived in L.A. the past 15 years. Loud Sunday has written and charted songs (ie Billboard) for Sheila E., U.K. group Eight Wonder and others. They have also written and produced music for many Nike commercial projects as well as commercials and documentaries for EAS, Macy's, Coke and Gatorade. Other participating gruvdisciples are: John Paris who is a top session drummer currently working w/ Earth, Wind & Fire and Eric Bennet. He has also worked with Patti Labelle, Sheilia E. and others. John co-wrote and programmed drums and played acoustic guitar for "Reunion" on the gruvdisciples First Impressions CD. Aditya Chauhan played harmonium on numerous tracks on the gruvdisciples First Impressions CD. As well as co-writing "Shake Shake Your Body". The harmonium is a 17th century french keyboard that is similar to an accordian. This instrument was introduced to India and became a main instrument used in Indian gazuls and raggas. Orlando Mendoza co-wrote the song "Te Mau Tamarii a Ori" on the gruvdisciples First Impressions CD. He also played the Tahitian drums on the track. Orlando is an accomplished tahitian drummer and is adept at other polynesian percussion instruments. The title, "Te Mau Tamarii a Ori" translates to Children of the dance and was inspired by watching the young girls learn the Tahitian Ori in class. Marcello Thedford who co-wrote and performed spoken word on "The Next Life" and "They Be Shakin That Good". Marcello is a working actor who has been featured in films like "Dangerous Minds", "Crimson Tide", "Volcano" and is recently featured as a new character on the hit NBC t.v. show "E.R". Together this group of individuals makes up the gruvdisciples. A mixture of cultural influences and styles of music, past and present blending to make the songs and sounds on the First Impressions CD.
